Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak is an ancient pilgrimage site, which has long attracted thousands of pilgrims from all faiths.
Significance of Sri Pada Lanchana
- On a Vesak Full Moon Poya day, a Supreme Buddha arrived in the city named Kelaniya. On this day, the Blessed One went to Sumana kūta mountain and placed his sacred footprint as an emblem on the Indraneela jewel.
- To the Supreme Buddha who came to this human world in a marvelous way where at Lumbini park, a lotus flower bloomed in each of his footsteps, thousands of relics shook in this world and making a lion’s roar, may my utmost homage be to the Sacred Emblem of our Blessed One’s footprint.
- May my veneration be upon the land that has the great Arahant’s sacred footprint, which god Sumana protects like his own life.
