The Kuru Country…. Known today as New Delhi is a magnificent place!
It is said the people of Kuru Country were extremely wise! Therefore, it is where our Supreme Buddha expounded two of the most profound discourses!
- Maha Satipattana Sutta (Four Foundations of Mindfulness) https://tripitaka.online/sutta/206
- Maha Nidana Sutta https://tripitaka.online/sutta/179
After learning these great discourses, their citizens used to discuss them frequently, with the favoured topic being mindfulness.
May our homage be to the sacred land that our Supreme Buddha expounded the Maha Satipattana Sutta!

Today we traveled over 850 KM all the way from New Delhi to the city of Varanasi!
Throughout our journey, all we could think was about how our Supreme Buddha and great Arahants walked this distance out of compassion for us all…
There are stories that back in the day, it took Sri Lankan monks over 16 years to come and venerate these sacred places in India…
Do you know what this city was called during the Buddha’s time?
It was known as Bārānasī!
The venerable monks taught us that it was in this very city that the Wheel of Dhamma ☸️ was set in motion!
Not only that but the first monks in the Buddha Sasana were ordained here, establishing the Triple Gem, the Buddha 💎, the Dhamma 💎 & Sangha 💎
Lay devotees went for refuge to the Triple Gem for the first time here as well
So you can imagine what a great land this is, right?

May our homage be to the great sacred land of Isipatana Migadaya in Baranasi! ☸️🦌
Dharmarajika Stupa
This is where the first Dhamma sermon, the Dhammachakkapavatana Sutta (https://tripitaka.online/sutta/6075) was taught to the five ascetics , thus setting the wheel of Dhamma in motion ☸️
It is also where ascetic Kondanna became a Stream Entrant!
May our homage be to sacred place where the Dhamma and Sangha arose in the world!
We chanted the Dhammachakka sutta & offered milk rice, flags, robes, gems, a golden robe, a shawl, incense and may other offerings at this great place!
May you wholeheartedly rejoice in the great offerings as you did them yourself 🙏🏽✨

Damsabha Mandapaya

it is also here where the Buddha compared Arahant Sariputta Thera to a mother because He trains His pupils in the fruition of sotapanna, the first stage of liberation.
This is where Yasa, the son of Sujata met the Supreme Buddha.
After hearing the Dhamma, Yasa became a stream-entrant and listening to the sermon taught to his father, he attained Arahantship. He and his 54 friends were a part of the first 60 Arahants.
Mulagandha Kuti Viharaya – Baranasi

This is the chamber in which Supreme Buddha dwelt in during the first rains retreat.
Nawa Mulaganda Kuti Viharaya and Anagarika Dharmapalathumas Museum

This monastery was established by Anagarika Dharmapala in 1932 in Baranasi very close to where the wheel of Dhamma was first set in motion.
This monastery also has a Bodhi tree from a sapling from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree in Sri Lanka.
There are also sacred relics of the Supreme Buddha that can be venerated here 🙏🏽
