In today’s programme, we are going to learn about a lay disciple of the Supreme Buddha named Uttarā. We will hear about all of the good actions she did in the human world that helped her to be reborn as a beautiful devata. As you listen to her story, I want you to be thinking about two very important things. First of all, I want you to listen for things that she did that you have also done. It would even be good to write them down. The reason I want you to pay attention to things she did that you have also done is so that you can be happy knowing that you are also doing the kinds of things that lead to rebirth in heaven. Second, and you may want to write these things down too, I want you to listen for things that she did that you haven’t done or could improve on. That way you can be happy thinking about the good things you have done and the good things you are going to do.
