Whenever you see anyone helpless, ugly, extremely poor, sick and depressed, you can conclude, we too have suffered in the exact same way, many times in this long journey. This elephant might have been born in the human world in his previous life. In this endless samsara, he could have been our parent or close relative. But now he has been born in the animal world because of the bad actions that he has done from his body, speech and mind.
Therefore, my dear Dhamma friends, have a strong determination to do good deeds from your body, speech and mind.
