Our teacher Pinwath Loku Swaminwahansa, teaches us the importance of accumulating merits. The Supreme Buddha out of compassion taught about merits, demerits, the results of such and also how to avoid demerits.
The greatest opportunity to gain merits is only as a human or god. We too are born as a human, which is extremely rare, due to our past good merits. And how unfortunate it would be if we were to accumulate more demerits this life (in a Buddha’s Dispensation) and fall to the lower destinations. Therefore, make the most of this life and gain immeasurable merit to be born among the heavens and to completely get rid of suffering!
